Our services for the high school and college player during the pre-draft stage include the following:

·      Educate the player and his family on the draft process and on NCAA rules and regulations.

·      Develop pre-draft strategy based on the goals of the player and his family.

·      Assist the player and his family with filling out draft questionnaires provided by scouts.

·      Help prepare the player and his family for meetings with scouts through mock sessions.

·      Promote the player to scouts and front office personnel, providing them with useful information that they can refer to when making out their draft boards.

 

 

Our services for the high school and college player once he is drafted, but before he signs a professional contract, include the following:  

·      Devise a negotiation strategy based on the goals of the player and his family.

·      Obtain signing bonus offers made to other players in the current draft.

·      Require the team to provide enough money under the College Scholarship Plan to ensure that the player can attend the college of his choosing without incurring any tuition, textbook, or room and board costs.

·      Ensure that the team includes the Incentive Bonus Plan as part of the player’s contract.

·      Review the language of the contract to ensure it complies with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

 

Our services for the professional baseball player include the following:

·      Advise the player on residency issues to minimize tax liability on the player’s signing bonus, salary, and endorsement money.

·      Alert the player to the availability of disability insurance policies.

·      Secure equipment deals for the player and purchase whatever equipment cannot be obtained through deals.

·      Obtain endorsement deals.

·      Market and promote the player through a website (see www.garrettatkins.com for example), which can be used to obtain endorsement deals with baseball card companies and local businesses, to reach out to fans, to organize charity events, and to sell merchandise.

·      Communicate with the team to monitor the player’s development and to check on their plans for him.

·      Coordinate off-season workout plans for the player.

·      Handle any legal matters that arise.

·      Negotiate all contracts with the team and handle salary arbitration once a player becomes arbitration eligible.

·      Handle the preparation and filing of tax returns.  

·      Refer the player to experienced financial advisors that we have interviewed and approved.

·      Assist the player with any off the field needs, such as negotiating with banks to obtain the best mortgage rate for players purchasing homes; negotiating with car dealerships to help players obtain the best price possible on cars; and smaller things such as providing players with directions when they are lost on the road.
